Detective Eva Storey, TPLI, has been a State of Texas Detective for over 15 years. Eva began her, degreed, career in technology communications, designing technical manuals, visual aid graphics, and database code building. Her love for design later deployed her as an Art Agent, representing a diverse group of designers, artists, photographers, and product inventors. Eva discovered what it was like to be in a life and death situation, over 17 years ago, within a medical setting. After giving birth to her second child, a daughter, she suffered a major basilar artery stroke that led into a coma. Through her recovery, she had 5 TIAS (mini strokes) that followed. Her body response was an autoimmunity disorder. During this time frame, her first-born son, was about to have his own medical issues. After Eva recovered, still with residuals, her son was diagnosed with a rare spinal condition called ‘Syringomyelia/Chiari Malformation’ at the age of 7 years old. This is when Eva learned how to be an advocate. Knowing that a cure has not been discovered yet, for her son’s condition, Eva started her journey within advocacy and medical research. She vowed to gain the knowledge and tools it took to help others that found themeselves, within emergency medical situations that are in need of immediate resources, and support groups. She worked within the medical industry designing medical educational studies, books, illustrations, for physicians and nurses throughout the USA. Eva met two major people in her lifetime. One who mentored and encouraged Eva’s journey within the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities, who required proper language access and another, who was an Independent State Detective who recruited and trained her as an Independent State of Texas Detective, as well. Currently, Detective Eva Storey, passionately, helps individuals within situations such as: Advocacy, Client Educations for Hospital Districts, Medical Clinics, (HIPAA/HITECH LAWs), Joint Commission Standards, Patient & Healthcare Navigation, Educational, and Government Compliance, all focusing in the Reasonable Accommodations Act and ADA (Americans with Disability Act) Laws. Eva traveled to third world countries working with foreign-based doctors, of many diverse cultures, who shared the same passions within disability advocacy, for all. Yerevan, Armenia, and surrounding areas, was a prime focus of study within Deaf/Hard of Hearing and the Visually - Impaired. Eva’s son now desires to be a Healthcare Navigator and will be starting his own journey soon. He offers support for those that share his own condition.
